What’s involved in a France to UK removal
French address collection
Our team travels to your French property and manages the entire collection process. Whether you’re in Paris, Provence or anywhere in between, we’ll plan the route and the schedule around your circumstances.
Professional packing
We use professional packing materials throughout, with particular care taken for fragile items, artwork and antiques. Everything is inventoried before it leaves your French address, so nothing gets lost in transit.
Channel crossing and routing
We manage the Eurotunnel or ferry crossing as part of the service. Most France to UK moves travel via Calais/Dover or through Folkestone. We’ll choose the right route based on your timeline and destination.
UK customs clearance
This is where many people run into difficulty if they’re not working with an experienced removal company. We manage your UK customs documentation from end to end (including the Transfer of Residence application to HMRC) so your belongings clear the border without delays or unexpected charges.
UK delivery
Door to door, from your French address to your new UK home. We deliver to any UK destination, including Salisbury and the surrounding areas of Wiltshire, Hampshire and Dorset.
Storage in France or the UK
If the timing of your property doesn’t align (your French sale hasn’t completed, or your UK home isn’t ready) we can store your belongings at our secure Old Sarum facility in Salisbury for as long as you need. We can also arrange storage in France ahead of collection if that’s more practical.

My French property sale hasn’t completed, can you store my things in the UK?
British nationals can return to the UK freely on a valid passport. However, family members with EU nationality need to apply for UK family visas before relocating. We’d strongly recommend taking immigration advice early — the removal can be timed to work around your visa approvals. We’re flexible on scheduling.
Can I return to the UK duty-free after living in France?
In most cases, yes. UK Transfer of Residence (ToR) relief allows you to import your household goods duty and VAT-free when permanently returning to the UK, provided your belongings have been owned and used for at least six months. We manage the ToR1 application to HMRC as part of our service.
How far in advance should I book my return move?
For summer moves, eight to twelve weeks ahead is ideal, this is the busiest period and dates are limited. For autumn and winter moves, four to six weeks is usually sufficient. If your situation is urgent, call us directly and we’ll do everything we can to accommodate your timeline.
